Part #2: Down Payments / Permits and Insurance
A
well constructed roof has a lifespan of decades, so if you’re a homeowner, then
getting a new roof installed correctly is a very important home improvement
project. There are plenty of roofing installers available, but only a handful
of quality roofing professionals. However, if you follow some basic rules, then
it should be fairly easy for you to select the best roofing contractor for your
home.

4.
Down Payment. – Do not sign the contract
until you fully understand the entire payment process. Partial deposits are
often for the sake of good faith and this can be acceptable. Generally an
established Roofing Contractor requires very little down (not more than 25%). Avoid
paying in cash. Payment made with credit card will ensure easy recovery of your
money in the chance of a worst case scenario.
5.
Permits and Insurance – The selected
contractor must have the required permits and insurances for your protection
and for his employees. This should include workmans compensation for all
employees (and make sure he has his own employees and is not using subs).
Following
these simple rules and a few of your own will help you in finding a trusted
roofing professional.
